Walking into Fall

Hey everyone! I am so excited to share this outfit with you, it is one of my favorites for Fall! I recently got this Barbour scarf and I am 100% obsessed with it. Not only is it so comfortable but it's also reversible and I can wear it as a blanket scarf! It doesn't get better than that if you ask me. I love sweater weather because it also means scarf weather. My sweater is the cashmere one from J. Crew Factory and I highly recommend getting the cashmere one instead of the regular because it's definitely worth the extra money, take it from someone who has both. I wear mine constantly and it is worth ever penny. This outfit is full of staples I'll be wearing all Fall long, enjoy!

Sunday Praise No. 3

Life hit my heard lately and I realize I haven't done these posts in a couple weeks, let alone many blog posts and I'm working on that. I am currently going through a season of life lately full of many changes but also lots of ups and downs so prayers are much appreciated! That beings said, this Sunday Praise is about those seasons of life where we feel like every day can be a constant struggle, know that God is with you and I hope this post helps with that struggle. Enjoy!
I never want to act like somebody I'm not and when it comes to blogging, I'll always be open about who I am in my faith, fashion and lifestyle, completely raw & authentic. That being said, lately staying strong in my faith and trusting in God has been a constant struggle. Recently, there has been a lot more downs than ups in my life and it's hard to stay positive. For a while, I really struggled in keeping the faith because there was so much doubt and desolation that clouded my faith in God that everything would go according to his plan. I know deep down in my heart that God has every second, minute, year of my life planned out but sometimes it's just hard to remember that. In these times, as I know we all have them, I've learned to remember the good days when I was praising and thanking God for everything he was doing in my life and know that as much as he was there in those great moments of my life, he is there just as much in the bad moments.

Life isn't perfect. There's good days and bad days, we have days where we thank god and days where we really seek him. It's easy to thank him on the good days but the bad days, those are hard. I find myself struggling to go and seek God, to pray to him and to read his word, but when I seek him, everything changes. When I open up his word, speak to him and praise him, I am confident everything will be okay. He gives me contentment, strength, and most of all faith. Faith that it will all be okay and that everything is working in accordance to his plan. That every high and low is for a reason and despite any struggles I have along the way, it will all be okay.
So in your tough times, praise God like you never have before. Start and end your day seeking him, praise him in the lowest valleys and the toughest storms, give him all the glory no matter the circumstances and know with him, you have the strength to get through the day, month, year, whatever it may be.
We all have moments in our life where we fall short in our faith, it happens. Lately, I've been listening to Elevation Worships new album and a song really stuck out to me that I feel just really relates to what I've been going through recently. The song is called Here Again and it speaks volumes to the Lord's grace. That in our weakest of times, his glory appears, his presence is so strong in our lives in the times we need him most. With him, we are enough and he never forsakes us, never leaves us. This song has been on repeat for me, it is such a strong song in every word that is sung. I listen to worship music on the daily whenever I can simply because it gives me the opportunity to worship and praise him every chance I get. Take a day and listen to worship music when you can whether its when you get ready in the morning, in the car, while you make breakfast or do school work, listen to it and notice the difference because it truly has an impact.

I recently read the book of Esther and while it's a short book in the Bible, it carries so much impact. Esther trusted in God every step of the way in her life from being appointed Queen at such a young age to revealing her heritage and saving her people. When Esther heard of the slaughter planned for the Jewish people by Haman, she didn't act out in anger or sadness but she immediately turned to God and fasted for three days and three nights as did her people. See, when Esther was faced with a devastating event in her life that depended on her, she turned to God and went to seek him. She's a great example of how, as christians, we should be in the difficult times life gives us. Esther is not only a pillar of strength and persistence in her but also in her faith. As Psalm 55:22 says, "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you, he will never let the righteous be shaken."

Putting Yourself First

There are times where putting others first is exactly what you should do and there are other times where you need to put yourself first. That decision should be between you and God. Whatever struggle you feel whether it's being taken for granted or putting too much on your plate, pray about it. That’s the first thing you should do, always seek God.

Lately, my best friend and I have had many discussions on this. Like many others, we struggle with putting ourselves first in some situations for the two reason: feeling we should always be of help and of being looked at as selfish and at times, being blatantly told that. I’m quickly realizing that when you feel obligated to put someone first, chances are they’re putting you second. Whether it’s a job or a relationship, if it’s toxic enough to make you feel guilty or unappreciated, firstly pray about it and second consider leaving. That’s my advice to you. Have enough respect for yourself that you refuse to be walked on, treated unfairly and taken for granted. For the sake of your own health and happiness. Don’t get angry or try to seek revenge, be better than that. If you feel you should, walk away with class and dignity, however that may be. And after you’ve done that, pray for whomever or whatever it was that made you feel the way you did.

There’s a quote, “When you say yes to others, make sure you are not saying no to yourself.” Don’t spread yourself to thin, don’t bite off more than you can chew. As helpful as we all want to be, if you feel like you’ve taken on more than you can handle, it’s time to put yourself first. It’s time to lighten your load and become a better you. Because at the end of the day, let’s face it. You aren’t helping anyone else out if you aren’t putting your happiness and health first. You can’t do your best if you aren’t at your best. If you feel there is areas in your life where you are taken for granted, address it how you please but make sure that in the end, you put God then yourself first. In the most troubling of times, make sure you are seeking the Lord and in the happiest of times, thank him.

Putting yourself first doesn’t mean you’re putting others second. It simply means your health and happiness are important and shouldn’t be taken advantage of. That doesn’t mean we should only focus on the interests of our own and not others. Yes, we should remove ourselves from toxic situations in our lives but we should seek God during these times. Pray for others, those who you feel caused those situations and those involved. In the hardest times whether it’s leaving a job or friendship that caused you pain, you should be praying for them. Have the same attitude Jesus would have. We aren’t perfect and we should never strive for perfect but we should strive for Grace. Forgive and forget. Spread love and be loved.

Nautical Nonsense

Hey everyone! A couple months ago when I went to Mackinac Island, the weather was slightly chilly so I wore one of my absolute favorite outfits for by the dock and wanted to share it with you because it is so perfect for Fall. I wore my favorite pair of black jeans from loft with one of my favorite jacket purchases lately from J. Crew Factory. I paired it with my gold jack rogers, a tie neck scarf and a vintage coach belt to top it off.  I also recently purchased a longchamp backpack on my trip to DC and let me tell you, it's definitely one of my favorite purchases! I can carry so much in it including my camera, wallet, snacks, and basically all of the essentials. It's the perfect bag for traveling and even for blogging with carrying a camera! This is such a classic outfit for days in the Fall or when you're dockside and I can't wait to wear it more often. Enjoy!

Sunday Praise No. 2

Hey everyone! So excited to be posting another Sunday Praise post this Sunday. Was so sad I couldn't post one last Sunday, I had a family emergency. That being said, all prayers would be very appreciated with so much going on in my family right now. The past few weeks have definitely been a whirlwind so I feel like I'm just now trying to get back into the swing of things even with all that is occurring! I know God will give me the strength and confidence I need and that alone is enough for me. Anyways, I am loving this weeks Sunday Praise post and I hope you do too!

Lately, as I have said, I’ve definitely felt many burdens, some still going on, where I’ve really had to put all my trust in God through it all. To wrap my mind around the fact that God knows far more than we’ll ever know is difficult. Our biggest picture is his smaller picture, isn’t that so crazy to think about? That he knows the next second, minute, hour, day, month, year, decade of our lives. I've kept Jeremiah {29:11}, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

He has our entire lives planned out by the minute. Everything that happens is there for a reason and it's all being worked within God's hand. God knows. And knowing that keeps me so content and in my weakest of times, I have to really put all of my faith in him to remember that. I know there was a reason I stayed home this past year and when I realized I wouldn't be able to go to College this semester either, I knew there was another reason coming. I wasn't necessarily ready for that reason but its happening now and knowing God is there through it all, tiny blessings along the way, is all I need.

I've actually been doing some devotions lately and I absolutely love Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. It's a devotional book for every day of the year and you may have heard of it. I just love how the words are so beautifully written and crafted. It's such a great way to start the day and I actually read the same day at the end of the day as well. If you're looking for a deep and meaningful devotional book, I highly recommend looking into this one!

Alongside devotions, I've just been dwelling on different verses from Psalms that are full of encouragement like Psalm 37:4, Psalm 121:1-2, Psalm 16:8, Psalm 23:4 and a couple others. On days where I'm really struggling I look to these verses to keep me calm and collected. Knowing my strength comes from the Lord and looking to his word in time of trouble is just what I need. He brings the light on the dark days and plenty of water in a drought. He is there every step of the way and thats really what these verses help me to remember. Psalms is one of my favorite books of the Bible because of the encouraging words they have.

Instead of podcasts this week, I've actually been listening to a lot of worship music. One song in particular I've had on repeat is "Yes I will" by vertical worship, it just really relates to what I'm going through currently and the words really speak to me. Alongside that song, I've also been listening to Lauren Daigles new album 'Look Up Child' and it is SO good. Seriously, SO good! The words of every song she's written really speak to me and carry so much meaning. Especially Rescue, Love like this, Remember and so many others. If you haven't heard her new album, add it to your playlist right now, you will love it!

I hope that this week, especially as we near exams and the beginning of the Fall, that you feel God's presence and in every struggle you have, he brings you peace.
