My New Years Resolutions

Hey friends! I'm not normally one to do New Year's resolutions but I thought it might be a fun thing to do this year. I am looking forward to the new year because I have a lot of new goals personally and career wise that I look forward to working towards. For once, I feel like I'm not consumed by the world of politics and I can just relax. Of course, I still have school and work but that doesn't mean that's all I have to do. One of my big goals for 2018 is to just enjoy it all. Too often, I feel like we (myself especially) let time fly by working instead of enjoying it all. This year, I don't want it to fly by and I miss out on the fun, I want to enjoy it so my list includes a lot of things I've always wanted to do but decided to work instead or just didn't have the time. I hope my list inspires you to also enjoy this next year, I have a good feeling I will! Enjoy!

Winter Accessories

One of my favorite parts about the winter time (in addition to coats, of course) is the accessories. I love braving the cold while wearing one of my favorite scarves with cute earmuffs and a nice pair of gloves and then topping it off with the coziest sweater. This year, I've definitely gotten more into cold weather accessories and coats which makes me so excited for some upcoming outfit blog posts! That being said, I've been doing a lot of shopping for my favorite accessories and wanted to share them on the blog and where they're from. Enjoy!

My Favorite Winter Coats

Hey Everyone! If there's one thing I think every closet should have an assortment of, it's definitely coats! I think of coats like shoes, they're the perfect addition to any outfit and can always add a pop of color. One of my favorite things about the winter time is getting all bundled up in my favorite cold weather accessories like my earmuffs and favorite pair of warm winter gloves but the best part is choosing what coat I want to wear! Since I have such an obsession with coats, I wanted to share some of my favorites with all of you and ones I think every closet should have. Enjoy!

Life Update

Hey friends, It's been a while! I'd like to say this past month has been really busy because it feels like it has been but if anything it's just been extremely exhausting. From feeling sick to school and finals to working to two jobs to just trying to figure out what my major will be, it's been emotionally draining more than it's been physically exhausting.

Finishing finals was such a relief since they took so much out of me that I just wanted to relax but I had signed up to attend a political activism conference in West Palm Beach which meant that I needed to make sure I had everything for that trip. I honestly wasn't even sure I wanted to attend because I was pretty sure that politics was no longer my passion and what I wanted to do in my life and career. I grew up with a passion for politics so you can imagine the struggle its been to realize you might not love something anymore that you've had a passion for your whole life. I wasn't sure I wanted to attend the conference and see people with that same joy and passion on their faces that I had just 6 months ago but obviously the plane ticket had been purchased and the commitment had been made so I made the trip to the conference with my best friend. While the conference had some great speakers, I didn't feel as if I had learned a whole lot and that could be more so because I had attended other conferences by the same organization who typically had the same speakers at their conferences. I had a really good time and got to see so many great friends but when it comes down to it, I'm really glad I went for one main reason; I realized I don't have a passion for politics anymore. Normally, I would have been devastated but since this is something thats been on my heart for a while, I think that it's the best thing for me. I've always tried to make the best decisions even when they're ones I definitely don't want to make, this was one of them. I've decided to major in communications so that I have a more general degree and more career options.

While the conference was a huge eye opener, I was ready to get home and celebrate Christmas! We got home from the conference late Friday night on the 22nd. I had to work all day on the 23rd and then after work, one of my best friends had a little Christmas get together which was a super fun time! On Christmas Eve, I woke up awfully sick. I took a shower hoping that would make me feel better but I still felt terrible. I figured out I had the flu and I really felt like I missed out on all the Christmas festivities because I was sick. I'm finally getting over it (thank goodness!), my only issue now is the horrible aching in all of my joints and back, especially my hips. I want to do nothing more than exercise since I haven't really been active this month since I've been so busy but I think it will be a while before I can do that. I didn't expect the flu to be such a drain on me but I ended up losing a lot of weight from it, having horrible joint pain and the worst aches from head to toe.

That being said, since I'm stuck sitting on pain killers for my aches and pains, I'm really glad to be able to sit down and write a blog post. With the craziness that my life has been lately, blogging was something that really gave me joy and I think stress took away all my joy. I'm excited for this new year because I'm starting it with a new passion and putting the past where it belongs, behind me. While politics will always be a small part of my life, it doesn't have to be front and center anymore and I'm glad to put it behind me. I'm thankful to have a creative outlet like my blog and I'm glad to have readers like all of you. Thanks for being a part of my small little corner of the internet. Heres to many more blog posts in the new year (and some in the next few days)!

I love this look because while its dressed up its still comfortable and I am always looking for something comfortable to wear thats still super cute. I am also obsessed with my flats from Jack Rogers, they are the perfect addition to any Christmas outfit and they are so festive! Enjoy!

My Holiday Bucketlist

Hey Everyone! Life has been so crazy. My semester ends this week (thank goodness!!) and then I am on winter break! Sorry, I haven't posted for a while, its finals week so you can imagine all the studying I am packing into my brain. In other news, I am so glad it's officially the Holiday season! To really get into the holiday spirit, I made a holiday bucket list of everything I'd like to do during the season. I love making bucket lists for different times of the year and the holiday season is no exception. Enjoy!

Black Friday Haul Favorites

Hey everyone! This was my first Black Friday shopping in the crowds and it was definitely a success!   My two best friends and I left around 6 to head to Tanger outlets and we also went to a town center near the outlets. We were at the outlets for about 5 hours and headed over to the town center where we shopped some more. Since the town center is so spread out, you have to drive around to get to different stores. When we were leaving one parking garage, we got stuck there for almost 3 hours trying to get out, it was a nightmare! Luckily, we only had to shop at a couple more places. We ended off the night getting a snack from Whole Foods and getting our favorite holiday drinks from Starbucks. I got a ton of great deals and I wanted to share some of my favorite purchases with you! Enjoy!

Don't forget to check out my Black Friday Deals blog post for discount codes and sales!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hey Friends! Happy Thanksgiving! I am so thankful for my family, my friends, god, and all of you! Today I am wearing one of my favorite outfits for the holidays. I wore the cutest scalloped skirt that I got from ASOS, a bow sweater from J. Crew Factory, my favorite pair of sparkle bow flats from J. Crew Factory and to top it off I wore one of my favorite headbands from Henri Bendel! This is such a great outfit for the holidays because not only is it comfortable but it is casual and dressed up at the same time. I will definitely be wearing it again this holiday season! It is so simple (only four pieces!) but looks so put together! I hope you all have a great thanksgiving, eat lots of pie and spend lots of $$ on all of the great sales tomorrow like me! Enjoy!

Beauty Products I'm Currently Loving

Hey Everyone! I'm so excited to share with you some of my favorite beauty products currently. I receive an ipsy bag each month for just $10 and it is always full of products I love! I decided I would share my favorites from the past few months in addition to a few other products I am really enjoying!

1. It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In
This summer I got my hair dyed bleach blonde and normally since my hair is already naturally a light blonde, my hair doesn't get damaged but it was a newer girl that did my hair and she completely bleached it and let it sit too long and my hair was ruined. It was crippling and falling apart, I was so upset! I tried everything and finally came across this leave in product and it is seriously a miracle! If you have damaged ends, I highly suggest this!

2. Bad, Baby Dry Shampoo Pen

I occasionally have a tendency to wake up late and not have time to shower. If I'm lucky I can throw on my makeup and go but I forget that my hair needs some fixing up. I love this dry shampoo pen because it's easy to take around with you and I think you can take it on a plane so it's perfect for traveling! It works great and doesn't have a dry shampoo smell!

3. Eva NYC Mane Magic

Like I said before, my hair was so damaged and I tried everything including this hair primer from Eva NYC. I love this stuff but I swear I go through it like water. It gives your hair a shiny look (even if its damaged!) and it repairs it! Not only does it make your hair look great but it smells amazing, like seriously, I want to buy all the Eva NYC products just for the scent!

4. Tarte Lashes
Lately I've been using Two Faces mascara and I absolutely hate trying mascaras because its such a hassle to find one I like since I have super long lashes. When I received this in my tipsy bag I was hesitant but when I put it on, it doesn't clump, it makes me lashes look amazing (I swear they look fake, thats what everyone says too!) and I only have to do one swipe of it!

5. Urban Decay Eyeliner
Okay, I am awful at putting eye liner on. I have tired everything from pencils to liquids to powders but I always seem to mess it up which then messes my eyeshadow up and then my foundation, you know what I mean. I got this in an ipsy bag and I gave it a try and I love it! It really just glides on! If you're struggling with finding an eyeshadow, I definitely recommend this one!

6. Naked Eyeshadow (Mother Nature no. 6)
A lot of times I don't bother with eyeshadow because it never lasts or it gets in the crease of my eyelid but I love this eyeshadow. It stays on amazing and I have no issues with it smudging through the day or getting in the crease. My only dislike though is that you only need a tiny bit but since it really is a powder rather than patted down, it gets all over your brush so keep that in mind.

7. Jane Iredale Liquid Eyeshadow

This is definitely a good eyeshadow to put on when you know you're going to be out for a long time. It's super simple to put on and it lasts throughout the day without fading or smudging. I also like it to use as a primer before putting a neutral eyeshadow on!

8. NYX Setting Spray Matte
I have had so many friends rave about this setting spray and it was only $7.00 so I decided I would try it out. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It keeps my makeup and foundation looking fresh all day long. I am so glad I bought it!

9. MAC Prep + Prime
I've never had much luck with primers but when I got this one in my ipsy bag and tried it, I loved it! It is a little pricey but definitely worth it and you only need a tiny bit so it's sure to last a long time! I definitely suggest it if your make up style is a more natural look!

I hope you liked this post, if you have any questions about any of the products feel free to leave a comment, shoot me an email or just DM me on Instagram! I'd be happy to help!

Gingham in the Fall

Hey Everyone! The weather has been amazing and it is definitely feeling like fall here in Ohio. I am loving all of the gorgeous Fall colors that are spotting the trees. The other day I went into a small historic district in a town near me. It's one of my favorite places to stop every now and then. The little shops are so cute and the houses are absolutely gorgeous! I love seeing the antique shops and all of the little boutiques. I can't wait to visit it in the Christmas time when they have all of their holiday parades and festivals. My shoes are from Jack Rogers and I was slightly hesitant about buying them because I wasn't sure how often I would wear them but I've been wearing them nonstop, I love them! I also wore one of my favorite vests from J. Crew factory which is in the Gingham pattern and the Teddie sweater from them also! I love this outfit because it is so comfortable, I definitely recommend it for when you go shopping or for a day trip with friends! Enjoy!

About Me

Hey Friends! I kind of jumped into my blog without really introducing myself so I thought I would share a little bit more about me now!

I am currently a College Freshman. I go to a small college in Ohio and I will be transferring to Liberty University next year. My planned major is strategic communications and I hope to work for a large scale fashion brand or a major news network like Fox News or CNN one day. As of right now I have two jobs that I absolutely love. I work at a boutique in a small historic town and I am also a canvasser for an organization that advocates for human rights.

I've lived in Ohio my whole life. I'll be honest, if I were to choose a state to live in, I don't think Ohio would even make the top 5 but it has a special place in my heart. I've always been so excited to move out of Ohio and go off to College. Last year when I was deciding about College I made the decision to stay in Ohio for a year before going to Virginia and it's definitely made me appreciate it so much more.

One of my hobbies is political activism, it's something I've been involved with since I was 6 years old. I do a lot of volunteering and interning on campaigns and I work with a lot of different organizations. Every year I go to a few political conferences and I have so much fun. For a long time politics was what I wanted to go into as a career and I saw it as my past, present and my future. As of right now, I remain unsure of where I stand in regards to politics being my future but I do know that it's something I'll always love and have some sort of passion for.

I love clothes. Always have, always will. My style has slightly changed throughout the years but my love for fashion has never wavered. Starting a fashion blog has always been something I've wanted to do but never felt ready. When I realized I didn't have the same passion for politics that I've always had, I decided to explore other passions I had and fashion was the first and only thing that came to mind. I bought a nice camera and started my blog on a whim and I have no regrets. I started my blog because I wanted to have a creative outlet to share my love for fashion. I love how it's my own little work of art that I get to share with others.

Thank you for reading my blog and letting me share my passion with you!
